Ruffled Scarf take 2.. and the rest of the week :)

Last week was another nicely busy and productive week for me..  I had bash at my 'raspberry ruffle' scarf again... I'm much happier with this one :)

I do love these colours..  photos a little dark though, a sure sign of approaching winter - poor light for taking photos!

A much calmer coloured nuno wrap.. this piece of crinkle silk chiffon is lovely, a duck egg, blue, cream and red pattern.. I must figure out something to make for myself with the rest of this, maybe a tunic or a skirt..

Nuno felted with these colours it actually reminds me of patterned denim to look at.. I suppose its the 'washed' effect of the wool fibres over the silk.

And more slippers..
This colour combo is proving popular!
Another commission, no probs with shrinkage rates this time thank goodness
Icelandic fibre in natural dark and mid browns..
Burgundy leather soles and a little red in the toggle cords and
blanket stitched edges to brighten them up :)

What else has been going on..?  Well, I got a nice big box full of fibrey loveliness..

10 kilos of it for me to have fun with :)

And I took Matthew to the cinema to see the new Resident Evil film - he was desperate to go during the opening weekend and had nobody to go with, so I went with him yesterday (bonus for me; Gary cooked dinner!  Which was very nice.. I go to the cinema and come home to a lovely meal :)  I have to say though.. its the first and the LAST film I plan on watching in 3D.. it felt like I couldn't see it very well.

Well thats pretty much my week :)

Just happened by Blog land and saw your hot off the press posting! I am always planning to be more regular with my blogging..and so it is lovely to see the posts of people who are! I "missed" raspberry ruffle" 1 so I'll need tog o back and have a peek. Raspberry ruffle 2 looks good; I have also been playing wiht those colors; have used both some natural dyes and some of the acid dyes for various shades; The box filled with fibre/fiber goodies looks wonderful...

It IS exciting getting a big box of fibre.. I get that 'Christmas stocking' feeling as I open it ;D

Oh Ginny, I know what you mean! I'm trying to be good and remember to blog at least once a week.. I haven't gotten back into the swing of things yet (after having the kids off school in the summer hols.. yikes, they're off again in 2 weeks!)

I love the ruffle scarf. Is it also a nuno felt? Your slippers are wonderful too. After reading one of your posts about using icelandic wool, I ordered some to try out. I was expecting a much coarser wool and was surprised at how soft it was. Have a wonderful week!

Hi Kelly, no the ruffle scarf isn't nuno, just merino, silk fibre & slubby yarn :)

I love Icelandic wool for slippers, as you say it has a fairly soft feel, but its veeery hardwearing (and felts like a dream :)

Raspberry color is charming and the ruffle look is gorgeous. The boots are wonderful. Love the style. 10Kg order! Wow, you're big customer. I also just received from that supplier the raw fleece. Same feeling as Christmas present. Hooked to wool felt. Enjoy crafting and felting Deborah.

When I looked at the photo of the box of goodies I got almost as excited as if it were real and it were mine!

The fabric you nuno'd turned out so well - very pretty indeed.

I love the icelandic boots - perfection.

Thanks girls :)

Isn't it funny Lyn the excitement a big box of fibre induces.. we really must be addicted lol.

I try to 'save up' and buy everything I plan on using for the next few months in one go.. saves on postage costs (10kg in the UK is free p&p)

2kg of it is saddle stuffing wool (which was very cheap but made the weight up)I'm going to use that for filling some pillows and doorstoppers.

Terrie, I always get that excited 'Christmas' feeling too when opening a fibre order.. funny isnt it?!
