Over the last couple of weeks I've been tinkering around, felting lanterns from Swaledale..
Working inside out |
Using merino fibre and prefelt for simple design elements. With Wensleydale locks along the top |
2 layers of Swaledale and a little merino detail that will show inside the glass lantern |
Throwing |
Massaging it on to the hurricane lantern |
All different 8 lanterns and the pot from last time |
At night |
This morning I delivered them to the gallery shop at Haden Hill House (one of the museums I used to work in).

Mmmmm love the light shining through .... !
Thanks for focusing on Swaledale! It's so interesting to see what else can be done - I think I need to move on from slippers etc and make more use of this pretty sheep's fleece! I love the shapes of the vessels and they look so delicate too. Fabulous!!
Beautiful lanterns - I like the simple but very effective pattern.
Thank you Lyn & Els :) xx
Gill, you are welcome :) I love your wonderful strong, thick Swaledale felts! I went with thinner things because I didn't really have that much to play with.. and a little goes a long way with these projects :) x
These are beautiful!
Thank you Lindy :)
